Beech Trees

The Beech Tree is one of the most common trees in a temperate deciduous forest. Thay are several different types of beech trees. Generally, they are broad leaved and very tall. No matter what the type, a beech tree plays a very important role.
  • Beech trees are tall and wide, growing to about 100 feet and stretching to about 70 feet. They are often home to several different kinds of species of birds and bugs.
  • Another thing beecch trees provide is shelter. Many plants are able to grow under the beech trees because of their thick protective canopies.
  • Beeches also provide a food source for opossums, black bears, white-tailed deer, rabbits, ruffed grouses, red and grey squirrels, flying foxes, porcupines, and others.
  • And through photosynthesis, the trees create oxygen.
